Whilst companies have long been required to report their tax figures in the financial statements, in recent years there has been increasing pressure for the process to be faster, cheaper, better controlled and more accurate. In this article, the authors consider the drivers for change, the challenges faced in meeting the demands of stakeholders, and the options available including the benefits and pitfalls of automation and implementing tax reporting software.
