This overview highlights the European Commission’s (i) public commitment to achieving an agreement on the “Omnibus on Taxation” by the end of 2027; (ii) proposed plan to simplify, clarify and better enforce EU rules while designating taxation as one of its priorities; (iii) call on Spain to change the taxation of non-resident taxpayer dwellings used as habitual residences; (iv) referral of Hungary to the Court of Justice of the European Union for failing to abolish its retail tax regime; (v) adoption of a temporary State aid framework to support sectors affected by the Middle East crisis; and (vi) approval of a Lithuanian scheme to support a domestic development bank.
