VAT in Belarus

Just like other eastern European countries, in its efforts to improve its position, Belarus has to deal with serious problems caused by factors inherited from its former (communist) social and economic system. In that respect, VAT has proven to be a powerful tool in modernizing and strengthening the country's economy. In this article, the author describes the main features of the national VAT system, including the amendments that entered into effect in 2006.
